Employees can be considered a carer if they provide unpaid care or assistance to a child, relative, close friend, or partner who needs help because of physical, mental, or cognitive conditions. This role is most often informal and unpaid, and done by carers who provide assistance to individuals living with a physical or mental disability, long-term health condition(s), or problems related to aging, while engaging in other paid employment.
