Must Employers Maintain Records of Accidents or Injuries?
Yes, all injuries, fatal or otherwise,
Must Employers Report Injuries?
Yes, all injuries requiring an absence from work of 1 day or more or requiring medical treatment beyond ordinary first aid. When an injury results in immediate death, employer shall report the accident within 48 hours by telephone.
When Must Report be made?
Within 7 working days, or within 48 hours, by telephone, of death.
Penalties for Failure to Report
Willful refusal or neglect to report results in fine of not more than $5,000.
