Must Employee Give Notice of Injury or Illness to Employer?

Must Notice Be in Writing?

Either in writing or by other means approved by the department of employment.

When Must Notice Be Given?

As soon as practical, but not more than 72 hours after the general nature of the injury becomes apparent.

Exemptions to Notice Requirements 

State has no statutory requirements.

Effect of Failure to Notify Employer

Rebuttable presumption that the claim will be denied.

Other Provisions

Employer must acknowledge the receipt of written notice of the injury in writing, on the report or a copy of the report.
