Workers Compensation Notice Requirements for Employees – VT

VERMONT

Must Employee Give Notice of Injury or Illness to Employer?

  Yes 

When Must Notice Be Given? 

  As soon as practicable after an injury; within 6 months of death. 

Exemptions to Notice Requirements 

If employer has voluntarily begun payment of compensation. 

Effect of Failure to Notify Employer 

  Claim for compensation is barred.  

Other Provisions 

No claim for compensation may be maintained more than 6 months after the injury occurs. Filing of a false claim may result in a fine of $1,000 and no compensation.
