Must Employee Give Notice of Injury or Illness to Employer?

Must Notice Be in Writing?

Yes

When Must Notice Be Given?

Within 15 days after worker knew, or should have known of the injury’s occurrence.

Exemptions to Notice Requirements

If employer has knowledge of the injury, or if employer has failed to post notice of statute. 

Effect of Failure to Notify Employer 

Compensation may be barred.

Other Provisions

Even when 15 day notice requirement is waived, notice must still be provided within no more than 60 days of the accident.
