Must Employee Give Notice of Injury or Illness to Employer?

Must Notice Be in Writing?

Yes

When Must Notice Be Given?

Immediately after the accident, or as soon as possible thereafter. 

Exemptions to Notice Requirements

Industrial commission may waive requirement if reasonable excuse for failure to provide notice is offered. The notice requirement is waived if employee is incapacitated.

Effect of Failure to Notify Employer

If notice not given within 30 days, claim for compensation may be barred.
