Must Employee Give Notice of Injury or Illness to Employer?

Must Notice Be in Writing?

Yes

When Must Notice Be Given?

As soon as practicable, but not more than 30 days after the accident.

Exemptions to Notice Requirements

If the workers’ compensation commission finds there was a good cause for the failure to give notice, or the employer was not prejudiced by the lack of notice.

Effect of Failure to Notify Employer

Claim for compensation shall be barred.
