MARYLAND
Must Employee Give Notice of Injury or Illness to Employer?
Yes
Must Notice Be in Writing?
No
When Must Notice Be Given?
For injury, within 10 days of the accident; for death, within 30 days.
Exemptions to Notice Requirements
If the commissioner of labor and industry finds sufficient reason for the failure to give notice, or if the employer or its insurer has not been prejudiced by the failure to comply.
Effect of Failure to Notify Employer
Claim for compensation may be barred.
