BC McDonalds Outlet Fined for Multiple Violations

WorkSafeBC issues $39,000 OHS fines to BC, McDonalds restaurant for multiple health and safety violations.
WorkSafeBC has fined a Mission, BC, McDonalds Restaurants of Canada Ltd. outlet $39,000 for multiple violations of the Occupational Health and Safety Regulation and the Workers Compensation Act.
An inspection uncovered the following health and safety shortcomings:
- Failure to post first aid procedures conspicuously or indeed at all.
- Failure to conduct workplace inspections at intervals that would prevent the development of unsafe working conditions.
- Failure to provide new and young workers with orientation and training related to health and safety.
- The lack of an exposure control plan, which meant that workers were required to clean up hazardous materials such as condoms, needles, blood, urine and feces without adequate PPE or safe work procedures.
“Overall, the firm failed to provide its workers with the information, instruction, training and supervision needed to ensure their health and safety,” says WorkSafeBC. “These were all repeated violations.”
